

The Park
Kanha National Park lies within the Mandla and Balaghat districts of the state of Madhya Pradesh and forms the core of the Kanha Tiger Reserve, created in 1974 under Project Tiger.
The Kanha National Park came into existence in 1955 and was earlier divided into two sanctuaries, Hallon and Banjar, of 250 Kms and 300 Kms respectively.
It is the largest national park in Central India and has also been ranked in the top 10 tourist destinations in India.
The park’s landmark achievement, is the preservation of the rare hardground Swamp Deer (Barasingha), saving it from near extinction.
A famous attraction within the Park is Bamni Dadar, popularly known as Sunset Point that offers the most splendid backdrop of the sunset against grazing Sambhars and Gaurs, magnifying the natural splendor of the park.
Wildlife
Kanha Tiger Reserve in inhabited by species of tigers, leopards, wild dogs, wild cats, foxes and jackals. Among the deer species, swamp deers or hard ground barasingha remain to be the pride for the reserve.
Besides its diverse wildlife and bird population, the frequent sightings of Tigers roaming in the wilderness of Kanha National Park, remain to be the most popular attraction.
Other commonly seen animals in the park include the black buck, nilgai, indian wolf, sambar, barking deer, four horned deer and mouse deer.
A sequel of stringent conservation programs for the overall protection of the Park's flora and fauna have been provided making Kanha one of the most well maintained National Parks in Asia.
Jungle Safaris
Open Jeep safaris are the best way to observe wildlife at the thick & lush green forest of Kanha National Park.
There are 04 different zones at Kanha National Park for enjoying the Jeep Safari rides - Kisli, Mukki, Kanha & Sarhi.
The national park offers one of the most adventurous and picturesque jeep safaris which may be experienced twice daily in 06 seater open gypsies – early morning and late afternoon. Six passengers are allowed in each vehicle along with a naturalist and a driver.
It is highly recommended to book your safaris before departure to avoid any chance of unavailability of safari seats as limited number of vehicles are permitted to enter inside the forest in each shift.
